Gifted Education Integration

Art session for thinkers!

This approach can be applied to any students who request it.

Many schools lack support for artistically gifted children.

Do you have a child who isn't particularly interested in traditional art but is keen on engaging in other projects, requiring the creation of digital presentations like videos, photos, websites, and slides?

Is your child too bored to actively participate in regular art classes despite having a passion for art?

I am here to help them!

Genius Hour Support

One trait of gifted children is creativity and the ability to think outside the box. If you or your child already has a project in mind, whether it's a video game or a science project, and he/she/they need assistance in developing presentation skills, I can help by teaching graphic design, photography, video editing, website creation, and slide design. Together with the student, we can brainstorm the best presentation style to effectively showcase the project!

Depth and complexity

Depth and complexity, as conceptualized by Dr. Sandra Kaplan (USC) in the field of gifted education, refer to providing students with opportunities to delve deeply into a subject (depth) and explore its intricate nuances through various perspectives and elements (complexity).  It is widely used in gifted education programs across schools in the United States.

I use these prompts to assist students in developing concepts for their artwork.

My background

My journey into specializing in gifted education began when my son joined a gifted program and was also diagnosed with ADHD at his public school. To support his unique needs as a twice-exceptional (2E) individual, both gifted and ADHD, I explored the study of gifted education. Under the mentorship of Ms. Sharon Maeda, GATE Program Coordinator in Tustin Unified School District, I gained insights into supporting gifted children and learned about gifted education. With her guidance, I founded the Japan and U.S. Association of Gifted Education in 2022, aiming to support gifted children and teachers in Japan.
